Students Celebrate Rochdale Literature and Ideas Festival

Published: October 27, 2018

As part of Rochdale Borough Council‘s Literature & Ideas Festival we welcomed Young Identity to the college to deliver an inspiring poetry workshop to our students. Young Identity are a spoken word collective who deliver dynamic poetry and spoken word workshops. Students really benefited from the experience and being exposed to this type of poetry thanks to the festival.

Jake Campbell, director of Rochdale Literature and Ideas Festival, said:

‘I wanted to get in touch to say a very big thank you for what felt a really exciting and vibrant event with Young Identity on Wednesday.  They were full of praise for how well you looked after them and also for the phenomenal response from the young people.  It felt really upbeat and enlivening seeing how well they connected with the themes, mood and musicality of the performance poetry and how this resonated with them too.

I do hope that you were pleased with how the event went.  I have to say, I was so impressed not just by the number of questions that the students asked, but also by the level of thought and consideration that lay behind these.  It was superb and the young people were definitely a credit to Rochdale Sixth Form College throughout the event.’
