Apprenticeship Wage - Real Living Wage
Are you looking to break into a career in science and education? We are looking to recruit a laboratory technician apprentice to be an integral part of our science department.
This is a two-year training programme, to work under the supervision and direction of teachers to support learning by providing technical assistance, through the coordination, preparation and maintenance of teaching areas and equipment for students.
Responsibilities: -
- Be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of resources under the guidance and supervision of teaching and senior staff whilst ensuring that all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
- Support the learning within the classroom during lessons.
- Support the delivery of intervention and enrichment activities for learners at lunchtimes and after school.
- Implement structured and agreed work programmes/practical lessons under the guidance of teachers.
- Work as part of a team and support the role of others at all times, contributing to the overall work and ethos of the school.
- Ensure correct and up to date stock lists of equipment and materials.
- Supervision of the requisite Health and Safety checks.
Requirements: -
- L2/GCSE in English Language, Mathematics, and a L2/L3 Science qualification (Combined Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Applied Science) at grade 5 or above).
- ICT skills to research, present and communicate effectively.
- Ability to offer professional guidance and assistance to students and teachers on the practical aspects of the curriculum.
- Commitment to working flexibly, including outside of school hours, as required.
- Personal resilience, persistence and perseverance.
- Commitment to the pursuit of continuous professional development by oneself and others.
